Katchhi Dabeli - Authentic Kutchi Street Delight
Ingredients
- 4 pav (buns)
- 3 medium potatoes (boiled & mashed)
- 2 tbsp oil or butter
- 2 tbsp tamarind-date chutney (meethi chutney)
- Salt as required
stuffing & garnish
- Roasted peanuts (masala peanuts preferred)
- Pomegranate seeds
- Finely chopped onions
- Fresh coriander leaves
- Nylon sev
- Garlic chutney (optional for spicy kick)
Serving Suggestion
- Serve hot with extra chutneys and a sprinkle of sev on top.
- Perfect as a snack or quick meal with chai or cold drinks.
Methods
Prepare the Dabeli Masala Filling
Heat oil or butter in a pan.
Add mashed potatoes and sauté lightly.
Add White Horse Dabeli Masala, salt, and a little water.
Mix well and cook for 3–4 minutes until flavorful and slightly moist.
Add tamarind-date chutney and mix until the filling turns rich, tangy, and aromatic.
Assemble the Dabeli
Slice pav horizontally (keep it attached like a bun).
Spread garlic chutney on one side and sweet chutney on the other.
Stuff a generous portion of prepared masala in between.
Add roasted peanuts, onions, pomegranate seeds, coriander, and a layer of nylon sev.
Toast to Perfection
Heat butter on a tawa.
Toast the stuffed pav on both sides until crisp and golden.
